Px40 USB Adapter (P40U) is used to connect the local serial/parallel port relay to a laptop or PC, so as to transfer settings between the relay and PC, and support firmware update and menu text editing. The adapter is compatible with all MiCOM P40 relays in GE Vernova installation foundation, including Areva, Alstom and GE Vernova brands, and has the convenient characteristics of plug and play and integrated serial/parallel connection. The adapter is designed for temporary connection during testing, installation and debugging, and is equipped with 9-pin and 25-pin D-type connectors (SK1 and SK2) and a USB 2.0 B interface. It only supports Courier communication protocol (a proprietary protocol used to protect the communication between devices and the interaction between devices and S1 Agile support software package based on Windows). The adapter is supported by S1 Agile version 1.4.2 and above, and can automatically install the required drivers to ensure the normal communication between P40U and the old front panel with parallel/serial ports. When using the adapter, you need to activate the USB front port connection option in S1 Agile. The inactivity timer of the front port is set to 10 minutes. If no message is received within 15 minutes, the enabled password access level will be cancelled. The main advantages include: becoming a standard accessory in the debugging and maintenance engineer's toolbox; No need for a third-party adapter, reliable performance; No special adapter software is needed, and the function is built into S1 Agile tool kit. Integrating serial and parallel ports; MiCOM P40 relay supporting old port and future native USB, universal interface cable. The supported operating systems are Windows 7, 8.1 and 10(32-bit and 64-bit versions), and the USB 2.0 A-to-B cable with a maximum length of 5 meters can be used to connect the adapter.

Px40 USB Adaptor

The P40U Px40 USB Adaptor is used to connect local serial/parallel port relays to a laptop/PC, so that settings may be transferred to/from the relay and PC, allowing firmware updates and menu text editing. The P40U Adaptor fits any MiCOM P40 relays in GE Vernova’s installed base including Areva, Alstom and GE Vernova brands.

Simple | Plug & Play | All in-one Serial/Parallel

The adaptor is designed for temporary connection during testing, installation and commissioning and it has 9-pin and 25-pin D-type connectors (SK1 and SK2) and a USB 2.0 type B connector.

This adaptor supports the Courier communication protocol only. Courier is a proprietary communication protocol to allow communication with a range of protection equipment, and between the device and the Windows-based support software package, S1 Agile.

The adaptor is supported by S1 Agile version 1.4.2 upward, which will automatically install the required drivers for correct operation of the P40U interface to legacy front panels with parallel port/serial port connections. The USB front port connection option needs to be activated in S1 Agile when using the adaptor.

The inactivity timer for the front port is set to 10 minutes. This controls how long the unit maintains its level of password access on the front port. If no messages are received on the front port for 15 minutes, any password access level that has been enabled will be cancelled.
