DESCRIPTION
The TQ401, EA401 and IQS450 form a proximitymeasurement system from Meggitt's vibro-meterBproduct line. This proximity measurement systemallows contactless measurement of the relativedisplacement of moving machine elements.
TQ4xx-based proximity measurement systems areparticularly suitable for measuring the relativevibration and axial position of rotating machineshafts, such as those found in steam, gas andhydraulic turbines, as well as in alternators, turbo-compressors and pumps.

The system is based around a TQ401 non-contactsensor and an IQS450 signal conditioner.Together, these form a calibrated proximitymeasurement system in which each componentis interchangeable. The system outputs a voltageor current proportional to the distance betweenthe transducer tip and the target, such as amachine shaft.
The active part of the transducer is a coil of wirethat is moulded inside the tip of the device, madeof Torlon (polyamide-imide). The transducerbody is made of stainless steel. The target material
must, in all cases, be metallic.
The transducer body is available with metric orimperial thread. The TQ401 has an integral coaxialcable, terminated with a self-locking miniaturecoaxial connector. Various cable lengths (integraland extension) can be ordered.

TQ4xx-based proximity measurement systems canbe powered by associated machinery monitoringsystems such as VM600Mk2/VM600 modules(cards) or VibroSmart modules, or by anotherpower supply.
