GE IC698CPE010-BA & IC698CPE020-BA RX7i CPUs | Firmware 1.0

IC698CPE010-BA (300 MHz)
IC698CPE020-BA (700 MHz)
New CPU Features and Enhancements
This Version
The –BA version of these products contains a multiplexer that will allow the CPU to
communicate with a smart fan in future releases. Smart fan trays have not been released
and are not supported in firmware at this time.
Compared to Series 90-70 CPUs
RX7i CPUs provide the following new features and enhancements compared to the CPX
family of Series 90™-70 CPUs:
■ Non-volatile flash (10 Mbytes) and battery-backed user memory (up to 10 Mbytes).
■ A new register/WORD reference table (%W) that is configurable up to 4Mbytes.
■ Auto-located Symbolic Variables that can use any amount of user memory.
■ Larger reference table sizes, which include 32 Kbits for discrete %I and %Q and up to
32K words each for analog %AI and %AQ.
■ Support for new single-width I/O modules, in addition to Series 90-70 discrete and
analog I/O, Genius Bus Controller and High Speed Counter.
■ Up to 512 program blocks. Maximum size for a block is 128KB.
■ Online Edit and Test modes that allow editing and testing of logic changes that are
permitted for a Run Mode Store.
■ Bit-in-word referencing that allows you to specify individual bits in a WORD reference in
retentive memory as inputs and outputs of Boolean expressions, function blocks, and
calls that accept bit parameters.
■ CPU over temperature status bit.
■ Three serial ports: an RS-485 isolated serial port, an RS-232 isolated serial port, and an
RS-232 isolated Ethernet station manager serial port. The CPU supports Modbus RTU
Slave over serial ports 1 and 2.
■ An embedded Ethernet Interface with:
− Data exchange using Ethernet Global Data (EGD)
− TCP/IP communication services using SRTP
− Full control system programming and configuration services
− Comprehensive station management and diagnostic tools
− Basic remote control system monitoring from a web browser. Allows a combined
total of up to 16 web server and FTP connections.
− Two full-duplex 10BaseT/100BaseT/TX (RJ-45 Connector) ports with an internal
network switch providing auto-negotiated network speed, duplex mode, and
crossover detection.
New Ethernet Features and Enhancements
Two 10Base-T / 100Base-TX Auto-negotiating Full-Duplex Ethernet Ports
The PACSystems RX7i provides direct connection to one or two 10Base-T /100Base-TX
CAT5 (twisted pair) Ethernet LAN cables from two network ports. Cables may be shielded or
unshielded. It is important to realise that the two ports are connected to an embedded
network switch. The PACSystems RX7i has only one IP address. There is not a separate IP
address for each port.
Note: If speed and duplex mode of a port are forced using AUP, the switch will no longer perform automatic cable detection. This means that if you have the switch port connected to a switch or a hub port, you must use a crossover cable. You must use a normal cable if you have the switch port connected to the uplink port on a switch or hub, or if you have the switch port connected to another Ethernet device.
Note: Cable detection works if only speed or duplex, but not both, is forced.
Web Server For Monitoring via Network
The Ethernet Interface in the RX7i CPU module provides basic Reference Table, PLC Fault Table, and IO Fault Table data monitoring over the Ethernet network from a standard web browser. This capability is display-only; the web server does not permit changing any data or faults within the RX7i.
