The AC 900F redundancy concept enables controller redundancy through the installation of two AC 900F units. In the event of a failure in the primary AC 900F, the secondary unit takes over quickly and smoothly, facilitated by a dedicated redundancy communications link via the second Ethernet module, ensuring continuous synchronization. All inputs and outputs support redundant operation. For PROFIBUS line redundancy, the CI 930F communication interface features integrated line redundancy, with an alternative solution being a Fiber Optic Ring. To achieve the highest system availability, combining controller redundancy with PROFIBUS line redundancy involves using two AC 900F units, each equipped with a CI 930F interface. This topology merges the benefits of controller and line redundancy, as previously described.
AC 900F redundancy concept
Controller redundancy
Controller redundancy can be achieved by installing two AC 900F. To ensure quick and smooth takeover by the secondary AC 900F in case the primary AC 900F fails, a dedicated redundancy communications link through the second Ethernet module makes sure that both AC 900F are always synchronized. All inputs and outputs are designed to support redundant operation.

PROFIBUS line redundancy
The CI 930F communication interface provides
integrated PROFIBUS line redundancy. An
alternative solution to the PROFIBUS line redundancy
is to use a Fiber Optic Ring.
Controller redundancy together
with PROFIBUS line redundancy
You can achieve the highest availability when
doing both, controller redundancy and PROFIBUS
line redundancy by using two AC 900F with a
CI 930F communication interface each. This
topology combines the advantages of controller
redundancy with the one of line redundancy as
described in the preceding paragraphs.
